Green Finance involves the mobilization of funds for investment in projects, technologies organizations or assets which deliver positive climate or other environmental benefits in the broader context of environmentally sustainable development. Such finance is a vital part of global cooperation to achieve the Paris Climate Agreement by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and building a carbon-zero future.
Carbon Care Asia (CCA) is a provider of integrated sustainability solutions under a clear mission – to advance the approaching low carbon economy by raising climate competence and supplying innovative solutions for business, government and community organisations. We are active in consultancy, promotion and development of green finance in the region, whether this involves green bonds, green loans, green financial institutions, equities, or providing assistance to project-holders to develop investor-facing standards for green projects.
CCA is committed to promoting the most rigorous and holistic definition of green finance in a way that ensures such activity delivers financially, environmentally and ethically. CCA's green finance consultancy service is spearheaded by Mr Water Cheung, Chairman of Carbon Care Asia Pte Ltd and Director of Carbon Care Asia Ltd. Mr Cheung has over 30 years of experience in global investment banking and financing.
An important part of global action to achieve the Paris Climate Agreement will involve generating finance for low carbon projects and technologies. An additional and equally-important aspect of green finance involves climate resilience. Putting green finance in a longer-term and broader context, Carbon Care Asia’s green finance programmes also take account of the preparedness of any project for the risks and opportunities presented by climate change. Distinct from the environmental impact of a project (such as energy efficiency or emissions), resilience measures assess the capacity of projects, infrastructure and other investment opportunities to withstand the physical effects of increasing climate change as well as being prepared for the regulatory, legal and financial challenges resulting from increased government action to tackle climate change. In this work, CCA draws directly on the taxonomy developed by the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures.
With its expertise spanning both the environment and the finance sectors, CCA is able to offer a unique and bespoke service as a Green Finance Integrated Advisor:
